The AMA called and asked for a new contact until we elect another President.

Discussion regarding whom will complete and submit the Yearly AMA report.

Rob Rasor would like to attend May’s Board Meeting. Bill Amick may attend as well.

The Dudley Perkins award, the most prestigious award given from the AMA, was awarded to long time District official Jim Hutzler. Sadly, Jim Hutzler passed away just after being presented with the award. Jim’s contributions to the AMA, District 36 and the sport of motorcycling are too great in number to mention here. We will all miss Jim.

Cross Country Report: Chris Sykes reported:

Working on new methods to get riders through the checks quicker with the scanners. Chris was using the second scanner as a manual backup. Also worked on how to make the sign up process better.

155 riders rode the events conditions were dry and warm which took its toll on the riders. There was a camper somewhere on the first loop that decided he did not want the course going through the area and removed and relocated marking. He also had taken pictures of the "course damage" and gave those to William the Ranger and freely admitted he had removed the course markings. There were 3 injuries reported one of which was a collision with a truck on a jeep trail, this required that the rider (David Ladd) be air lifted out do to a broken femur which required surgery. He was contacted by the club and is in good spirits. Same day trophies were awarded at the event and results posted on Tuesday following the event. Scott McClelland’s ESS scoring system was used and worked well.

Sawmill Enduro – North Bay M.C. 4/15/00

233 riders rode the event and conditions were good with rain on the proceeding day and cloudy conditions the day of the race. Course was laid out well providing a wide variety of terrains. One injury was reported that I am aware of, a broken arm. Club worked on same day results using the ESS program which were completed around 4:30pm Most riders had left due to rain returning that afternoon. Results were posted the next day to the web site.

Alan will be meeting with MDR next week to train on use of ESS for their event.

Clubs are reminded that the top 10 District riders who pre-enter should be placed 1 per row in the first 15 rows. Post entries should be used to fill holes in rows.

The LAO received a$339 donation from the Timekeepers MC from TMC’s Wild Piglet Family Enduro

Dirt Track:

Ralph Lee Reported:

There were 5 Events held during the last reporting period.

We have averaged 125-150 riders per event so far this season. Biggest event was the Lodi opener – 260 entries. Things ran late.

At the1st race, there was one serious injury, a broken neck (Michael Knight).

At Lodi’s event an Open A rider went down with 12 riders in a pack. He low sided and was run over. That rider is doing better. In the same accident there was tib/fib fracture.

NCWR will not be having a Loretta Lynn event at Hangtown. Any clubs interested for 2001 need to contact Jerry Fouts NOW! Paperwork should be submitted sometime in June

Sanctioning

SCSCA will be having a Poker run before the Outlaw HS

LAO: Bill Dart reported:

OHV Commission: There is clearly a new direction on the commission. There will be much more emphasis on monitoring. Also, money from the Grant Program will be given to agencies to fight illegal riding areas. The entire Grant program could evolve quite a bit in the next year. There is one more seat open on the commission; hopefully it will be filled with a pro-OHV person.

There was a workshop in Barstow. BLM, Forest Service and OHV community representatives were in attendance. They spent on e day inside and another at a facility, where they looked at 2 trails using a proposed new "checklist". The preliminary results are not encouraging for Ohm’s.

The Grant Program is on hold because the program’s regulations have not been finalized.

Environmentalists have been lobbying against the entire Grant Program. They were NOT successful.

Another Clinton abuse of power… The President recently "protected" the Sequoia National Monument. This area has been protected for YEARS! Clinton just made it even more restricted to the public. Snowmobilers are the most effected, losing their riding area in the newly "protected" land.

Cliff Glidden had another surgery and is doing well. He can’t wait to get back!!

Jerry Fouts reported that it is the Club or Promoters responsibility to check all bikes for Spark Arrestors. Many folks thought that it was the responsibilities of the facility.

Riders have been asked to leave Mammoth Bar because of loud exhaust. The bikes that have been asked to leave are YZ400F with aftermarket pipes.

Vern Wood was nice enough to help a rider with a broken bike at a gas stop at the Sawmill.
