Referee’s Meeting – December 20th 2000

Royal Motel – Vacaville, CA

Meeting called to order: 7:32 p.m.

Correction to November minutes: The Oakland Club donated $800 to the LAO

District 36 meetings for the year 2001 will now start at 7:30 p.m.

ATTENTION ALL CLUBS!

CERA is hosting a trail party at George Town on January 27th. This is part of a trail repair that is required by any area receiving grant money. The trails that have reached a "red" rating have 6 months to be repaired or will be closed. These trails are very important to the club’s event. You will need to bring tools, you will not need a motorcycle for this. For more information check out the CERA.com web site. If you can attend the club and all off road riders would greatly appreciate you saving our riding areas.

Also Dirt Days is coming up. This is a benefit for LAO fighting for land use being held at Forest Hill. We are asking that clubs piggy back our flyers with their race events. Please contact Dave Pickett for the flyers and information on the event (916) 983-1336.

Committee Reports:

Dirt Track - Steward Ralph Lee Reports:

    • Season over, nothing to report. Final results are up on the website.

Enduro – Steward Alan Plumbridge reported:

    • Barefoot Family Enduro put on by the Richmond M/C on November 19th. There were a 172 entrants. Conditions varied from good to icy. Course layout was good with the use of "free zones" that let riders ride sections of the course at their own pace through single-track sections & the 2 track trails. Results were posted same day as unofficial, no trophies awarded.
    • Buckhorn Enduro put on by the Redding Dirt Riders on November 20th. There were 111 entrants for the event; conditions were excellent, previous rains left course conditions in great shape. Riders were treated to long sections of single track with speed averages set to keep the riders working. Craig Wesner was the Overall winner of the event and thus wrapping up the Championship for 2000. Rider feedback for the event reflected the great conditions and trail selection. This club continues to put on a great event and the riders not attending are missing out. Results and same day trophies were awarded. No injuries reported.
    • Next event will be the QuickSilver National Enduro on 2-18-01.
    • Chicken Ranch Cycle is looking to bring a Vintage Class to the family enduro series. He will be looking into promoting this for 2001.

Cross Country – Ed Haymond reported:

· No events to report.

    • Next event will be Prairie City on January 14th and the Hollister National on February 2-3.

LAO – Bill Dart reported:

    • National Geographic Society came out to present an award to Karen Shaunbach. They did some shooting up at Forest Hill. They took some photos of motorcycles going up hills. They weren’t too interested in showing the more positive side of off road riding.
    • Redding-they have closed the Old River Railroad Grade to motorized use. We are trying to get an alternate trail to that or else it will heavily inpact the races up there.
    • Nevada-The Black Rock National Conservation was created. It creates about 1 ˝ million acres. Half of that is National Conservation area and the other half is 10 new wilderness areas in that region.
    • Fouts Springs- incident in the camp ground where some guys got out of control. They tore up a bunch of brush out of the ground, raced through the camp ground all night, broken class and beer cans in the fire pits. The guy with a permit was a club member. They were made to clean out all the fire pits and replant some of the brush.
    • Grants-deferred to January 25th-26th meeting.

WebMaster- Jim Matheson reported:

    • Flyers for the QuickSilver, Wild Boar, Prairie City and Hollister are up on the website.

Awards Banquet – Eddie Diaz reported:

    • This will be the first year of the annual Jim Hutzler Award. It was mentioned to dedicate this years banquet to Jim Hutzler.
    • It would help if each committeeman could put together some stuff for the raffle. Contact Eddie Diaz if you have any companies willing to donate product to the banquet.
    • January 10th is the deadline for changes to the Banquet Program.

Dirt Days – Dave Pickett reported:

    • There will be a Lucas class. There are some contingency being offered. IMS has committed to a couple hundered "35% Off" coupons. Dirt Diggers will allow us to use there generators. All the permits and insurance is in the works right now. Working on posters for shops and flyers to be sent out soon. This is a benefit for LAO fighting for land use being held at Forest Hill.

Rules Committee – Randy Patterson reported:

    • 22 proposals passed. 13 were rejected or withdrawn. Rules will be voted on in the Competition committee meeting.

 Good of the Body

    • Prospective promoter at Argile Park joined the meeting. He currently has 2 races scheduled for Jan 16th and Feb. 4th. He would like to be a part of the district motocross series. He is also looking to do a 4-5 mile GP course.
    • "Sound Article" by Bill Dart received great coverage on the back of Cycle News and was emailed to all motorcycle companies.

Board of Directors ReVote

    • Results: Brian Butler was revoted to the Board with 100% of the votes. Kevin Yost declined his membership so Bill Zackarekis is the runner up from the Sanctioning meeting held in November. He will fill the 9th Board Position.
    • Sacramento Pits has a website and would like to be linked to the D36 site. They are a Trials Society with a lot of D36 riders. They will be doing a Trials demo at Dirt Days for us.
