Referee’s Meeting – August 21st

Meeting called to order at 7:41 p.m. by president Eddie Diaz
Competition: Jerry Fouts reported:
- Husky would like to post their contingency on our website, Jim will take care of that.
- We are missing B/C deposits from a couple of clubs.
- Still missing some work points form a few events. Waiting on the clubs. Letters are going out.
Cross Country: Dean Joyner reported:
- No events to report on.
- Dean is getting his feet wet in his new position and should be ready by the up coming events.
- Dave Hamel who runs the WORCS series is looking to do a race at Donner and Honeylake next year and would like the district to be involved. Out for discussion but no decision yet.
Enduro: Bill Zakareckis reported:
- No events to report on.
- The Jackhammer flyer is finished and posted on the website.
- The CERA family enduro flyer is finished and posted on the website.
- Alan Plumbridge will be on vacation from 9/06 – 9/24.
Dirt Track: Ralph Lee reported:
- Pre-Sanctioning meeting for Dirt Track will be at Lodi on Oct. 19th at 10 a.m.
- There was a 2 week suspension on a rider that is now up and he’ll be riding this weekend. He was involved in an argument with a photographer.
- This Saturday is the Hot Harley Nights in Lodi. There is a $9K purse up for grabs in this race. There will be 3 families of 3 generations attending this for the first time at Lodi.
Webmaster: Jim Matheson reported:
- Flyers for upcoming events have been posted on the site.
- Checking into the link for Husky from our site.
- Still working on getting Dirt Track info up.
Banquet:
- We need people to start getting prizes for the raffle.
- Woodland Cycle has donated two $25 Certificates.
Sanctioning: Dave Pickett reported:
- There have been emails coming in requesting another Dirt Days for ’03.
- Dave and two others will attend AMA Congress in October. They will address the sound issue.
LAO:
- There has been a change in the Supervising Ranger for Carnegie. She comes to this position with no agendas and preconceived notions. She is very receptive to the riders and has an open mind. This is good news for the riders.
- Oakland M/C donated $1000 to LAO for adds ran in the Bay Area by the BRC. These ads will give info on current issues in land use.
- Still looking for someone to replace Bill Dart in our LAO. If interested contact Jerry Fouts.
Old Business:
- Kevin Yost presented a letter to be mailed out to the clubs to make them aware of LAO issues and what actions need to be taken. This letter was reviewed by the committee and will be revised at the next meeting.
New Business:
- Dennis Maloney from Top Oil Products joined the meeting to look into supporting the district as a sponsor for ’03. Top Oil is from Burlingame and has been in business since ’74. They have been running their product oversees this whole time and is interested in getting involved in the motorcycle industry here in the US.
- Kevin Young with Factory 2 Racing also attended the meeting interested in sponsoring the district in ’03. Check out his web site at

Marysville’s 10th street track has been closed due to insurance issues. It will be allowed to open Friday’s before a race but no more Tues/Thurs. night practice until this gets sorted out.
Good of the Body:
- Kawasaki has delivered the laptop for the Cross Country Youth series.

New Business:
- Jill Patterson presented a bill for cleaning her camera that she uses taking our event photos. This was approved by the board.
- Dave Pickett requested that the district invest in name tags for committeemen that attend local political events. This would help people recognize that we are there. He will look into pricing the tags and bring it to the next meeting for a vote.
- BRC ads on the radio were voted on. The board passed to financially support 10 ads to run in the San Francisco area. They run at $125 for a 60 sec ad.
